Assess your chances
Definition
Erasmus Mundus is a prestigious European Union scholarship program for Master's study, delivered through consortia of leading European universities. Students study across 2–4 countries throughout the program, graduate with a joint or multiple degree, and receive full EU funding — covering tuition, living expenses, travel, and a monthly stipend of €1,000–1,400.
Key Benefits
Full EU funding. Tuition, accommodation, health insurance, travel, and a monthly stipend of €1,000–1,400 are all covered.
Study across multiple countries. Each semester takes place at a different university in a different country — typically 2–4 over the course of the program.
Joint or multiple degrees. Degrees awarded by 2–4 leading European universities, recognized worldwide.
Access to top European institutions. Programs are delivered by universities such as the University of Glasgow, Lund University, Politecnico di Milano, and others.
A genuinely international environment. Study alongside students from around the world and build connections with professors and industry partners across Europe.
Freedom after graduation. No mandatory return requirement — graduates are free to build careers in Europe or anywhere else.
A wide range of programs. Over 150 programs spanning technical fields, natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and the arts.
  • Who It's For
    • Bachelor's graduates with strong academic results (GPA 3.5–4.0 out of 5.0 or equivalent)
    • professionals looking to deepen their expertise and gain international experience
    • candidates prepared for intensive study and moving between countries every 6–12 months
    • those aiming for careers in international companies, research institutions, NGOs, or the UN
    • anyone interested in living across multiple European countries and developing their language skills
    • applicants from any country — the program is open globally
    • those ready for serious competition, with dozens of candidates per scholarship place
  • Age Range
There are no formal age limits for Erasmus Mundus.

Most applicants fall into two groups:
    • 22–26 — recent Bachelor's graduates
    • 30–35 — professionals with work experience

The program evaluates academic performance, the relevance of your experience, and the clarity of your motivation. With a strong profile and clear goals, age is not a barrier.
When to Start
Ideally, preparation should begin 9–12 months before application deadlines
This gives you enough time to:
  • choose a program from the Erasmus Mundus catalogue (150+ options)
  • prepare for and pass a language test — IELTS 6.0–6.5+ or TOEFL 80–90+
  • put together a strong application package (transcripts, CV, references, motivation letter)
  • write a compelling motivation letter — the single most important part of the application
A workable minimum is 4–6 months, if you already have:
  • a valid IELTS or TOEFL score
  • a strong GPA (3.5+ equivalent)
  • a clear sense of your target program
Important: Most Erasmus Mundus programs open applications October–December and close January–February, with studies beginning in September.
What's Included / How We Build the Path
Positioning and Strategy
At Lumos, we understand that Erasmus Mundus is one of the most competitive scholarships in the world. Each program selects just 15–30 scholars from hundreds of global applicants.

We don't simply help you apply — we build a competitive strategy.
That means selecting programs where your profile is strongest, crafting a motivation letter that sets you apart, and preparing documents where every detail reinforces your candidacy.

Our approach is built on quality over quantity. You can apply to up to three programs — we help you choose them carefully:
  • one ambitious reach
  • one realistic target
  • one strong fallback

Every application is tailored individually to the program and its consortium.

We also work honestly. If your GPA is below 3.5, your experience isn't relevant, or your language score isn't there yet, we'll tell you directly and suggest alternatives where you have a genuine shot.
